Valentine's Day is right around the corner. I've seen Valentine decorations everywhere lately - even Valentine trees. It seems like every holiday is getting to be as much of a decorators dream as Christmas.

I don't decorate for Valentine's Day, but I do try to do something special for my husband and kids. I'd love to hear what special things you do for your family - or what they've done for you! :)

Blessings in Christ,
Jill

Making the Most of Your Time Online

As a Work-At-Home-Mom, your time is precious. You maintain a household, run errands, attend to chores, and care for your family. As a business owner, you might stock inventory, create new products, build and maintain several websites, and more.

Many WAHMs struggle with maintaining a solid balance of work and play online. It’s all too easy to get wrapped up in surfing or sidetracked playing a fun game you just found online. Use these guidelines to make the most of your time online.

1. What is your purpose?
Before you even walk to your computer to get online, know what your purpose is. If you have to, create a plan. What is your reason for getting online? For example, let’s say you need to update a website. How many pages will you add? What type of content will you add? How much time should it take you to add three pages of articles? Knowing your purpose for getting online will help you to be more productive.

2. Set a schedule or time limit.
Once you know your purpose for getting online, you will be able to set your time limit or schedule. If you need to do something general, like search for vendors, set yourself a time limit for that search, 30 minutes, for example. Keep a kitchen timer on your desk. Set your time limit and stick to it. This will not only prevent you from going “astray” during your online search, but it will enable you to search/work more productively in the time frame you’ve allowed yourself.

3. Don’t squander “extra” time.
If you find that you have an extra hour or a few extra minute, be cautious of wasting that time online. Keep a small notebook with a list of “extra” to- do’s. When you have a few free minutes, try to cross off those extra little tasks.

Many times it’s very helpful to make a list of things to do for the next day and stick to it. Hopefully these tips will help you be productive online and in your business.

Featured Craft
Beading Hearts

This Valentine's Day, bewitch the object of your affection with a bejeweled charm.

MATERIALS:
20-gauge wire (available at bead stores)
Scissors
Pliers
Beads

Time needed: Under 1 Hour

1. Snip a length of wire (a parent's job) and bend it into a V shape.

2. String on the beads (tape the wire's cut ends first to protect smaller children).

3. Finish by bending the beaded wire into a heart, then twisting the ends together with the pliers.

Variations:
Large hearts can hang in a locker; small versions look great strung onto a necklace, pinned to a jacket pocket, or worn, as best friends are wont to do, right on their sleeves.
