What has happened to us recently is working
with apartment complexes in a different
way.
We have found out that apartments give their
new tenants a welcome packet which contains
coupons and other useful material.
They, here in Memphis, TN, are allowing
us to give them about 30 catalogs with business
cards and a scent sample attached, since
we have a candle business, to add to those
welcome packets. What a promotion for us.
They have an avg of about 30 new tenants
a month. Go get 30 apartments, and you have
about 900 new contacts a month. Imagine
if only 10% responded as a customer and/or
business partner.
This is our new and awesome way of building
our business.

I send e-cards to prospective customers
for holidays or events in their lives. When
I make initial contact I try to make a personal
connection with the person and you would
be surprised at how many people I've met
who are about to have a baby, planning a
wedding/anniversary, going out of town for
a funeral, or having surgery. Then I pick
out an e-card that is suitable for the occasion,
put in a personal message with my email
and a link to my website at the bottom.

Are You Really in Business? |
If you're
not in business to make money, you're not
really in business at all.
The speaker was someone I admired, and I have learned many sound business principles from her over time, but that one sentence just didn't sit right with me. Everything inside me told me this time she was wrong.
I couldn't collect my thoughts fast enough
to respond immediately, but her words have
stayed with me. I’ve spent many hours thinking
about my own reasons for being in business,
and wondering, "Can I be a successful
businesswoman if making money is not my
primary goal?"
Perhaps it sounds naive and idealistic, but I'm not in business to make money. It's something I expect to gain from my hard work, but it's not my main motivator. I can't escape what the Bible says about the pursuit of riches, particularly:
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures
upon earth, where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and steal. "But
lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust destroys, and
where thieves do not break in or steal;
for where your treasure is, there will your
heart be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)
So why am I in business? Here are some of the reasons on my list:
* Build God-honoring relationships with
people who share my interests
* Help these same people reach their goals * Develop and use my unique set of God-given talents and skills * Be creative I do know that money matters. It pays my bills, fills my fridge and clothes my children. But I don't need to pursue it. If I pursue a relationship with my Lord Jesus first and build up my treasures in Heaven, He will look after me here on earth. His way of providing for my needs may not always be exactly what I think it should, but that’s only because He’s so much wiser than I am. So am I still in business? You bet.
When I look at my list of reasons for being
in business I realize that if I focus on
these, I'll have a unique service or product
that is valuable to people I've developed
strong relationships with, and that I'm
dedicated to maintaining and improving.
Better still, I’m honoring my Lord and His
call on my life.
Sounds like the ingredients for a successful business to me.

Turn your Easter eggs into a blooming centerpiece for the table with these flowering pedestals.

MATERIALS:
Craft foam in green and other colors
Cardboard tube
Scissors
Masking tape
Eggs (real or plastic)
Sandwich bag
Uncooked rice or beans
Time needed:
About 1 to 2 Hours
1.
Cut a pair of petal patterns from craft
foam (or download our templates). For the
center hole, trace the end of a cardboard
tube, then cut out the circle.
2.
To make the stem, glue a piece of green
craft foam around the cardboard tube, using
masking tape to secure it until the glue
dries.
3. Push the foam-covered
stem through the holes in the foam petals
and set an egg in place for the flower center.
For added stability, place a sealed sandwich
bag of uncooked rice or beans inside the
stem to anchor it.
