May is right around the corner,
which means summer is on the way. It's finally
warming up again here. I'm enjoying the
spring, but not looking forward to the heat
and humidity of summer.
Is

Business
Builders
From Fellow CWAHMS |
*
I think this is a great topic. I tell all
of my business builders to be consistent
and persistent. I have been working my business
for 5 years now. I may not work 40 hours
a week. I may work 10-20 but I am consistent.
I have multiple ads out. I do phone and
email follow up.the fortune is in the follow
up. I am determined and passionate about
making my business work. I could not be
where I am today if I had given up.
You also have to be very passionate about
what you are doing. People will follow you
if you are passionate about what you are
doing. People don't care how much you know
unless they know how much you care.
just be consistent and persistent and always
try to perfect your craft.

I use discount coupons as thank you gifts,
fillers for promo bags, as referral gifts,
you name it, they are cheap to make and
cheap on your pocket, but they do go a long
way making you look good to your target
market and current customers.
I go to vistaprint.com and get their free
business cards but instead of writing what
usually comes in a business card, the main
focus is the discount and/or special promotion.
If I'm willing to spend a buck or two then
in the backside I include the terms of use,
restrictions (if any) and such information.
You can get 250 professionally printed "coupon
cards" free, just pay shipping which
is about $5 and they come in about any business
theme.
Remember to add a specific code to your
coupon cards before you hand them to others
so you can track the specific marketing
campaign that is generating the sales. For
example, if I'm giving the coupons to CWAHM
newsletter subscribers, I would add something
like cwahm-05-07 meaning the promotion on
CWAHM on May of 2007. If it's online ordering,
give your customer a place in the order
form to write down their "secret"
code; again, so you can know which marketing
campaign code they are responding to.

Making
the Most of Your Time Online |
As a Work-At-Home-Mom, your
time is precious. You maintain a household,
run errands, attend to chores, and care
for your family. As a business owner, you
might stock inventory, create new products,
build and maintain several websites, and
more.
Many WAHMs struggle with
maintaining a solid balance of work and
play online. It’s all too easy to
get wrapped up in surfing or sidetracked
playing a fun game you just found online.
Use these guidelines to make the most of
your time online.
1. What is your purpose?
Before you even walk to your computer to
get online, know what your purpose is. If
you have to, create a plan. What is your
reason for getting online? For example,
let’s say you need to update a website.
How many pages will you add? What type of
content will you add? How much time should
it take you to add three pages of articles?
Knowing your purpose for getting online
will help you to be more productive.
2. Set a schedule or time
limit.
Once you know your purpose for getting online,
you will be able to set your time limit
or schedule. If you need to do something
general, like search for vendors, set yourself
a time limit for that search, 30 minutes,
for example. Keep a kitchen timer on your
desk. Set your time limit and stick to it.
This will not only prevent you from going
“astray” during your online
search, but it will enable you to search/work
more productively in the time frame you’ve
allowed yourself.
3. Don’t squander
“extra” time.
If you find that you have an extra hour
or a few extra minute, be cautious of wasting
that time online. Keep a small notebook
with a list of “extra” to-do’s.
When you have a few free minutes, try to
cross off those extra little tasks.
Many times it’s very
helpful to make a list of things to do for
the next day and stick to it. Hopefully
these tips will help you be productive online
and in your business.

Part of the fun with this
'70s-inspired craft is hunting for the perfect
rocks to decorate, making it a fitting project
for after a nature hike or during a birthday
party.

MATERIALS:
Rocks and pebbles
Glue (hot glue lasts longest, but white
glue and glue sticks work well and are easier
with a crowd of kids)
Googly eyes and pom-poms
Fun fur
Scissors
Acrylic paints and paintbrushes
Time needed:
Under 1 Hour
1. Set out the rocks and
decorating supplies on a big table.
2. Look for natural features
in the rocks that resemble noses, chins,
ears, and so on.
3. Stick pebbles, googly
eyes, and pom-poms in place with the glue.
Kids can also use fun fur for hair, mustaches,
and beards or apply additional features
with acrylic paint.
Variations:
Try making Pet Shells, an easy adaptation
of the basic design and a good way to get
rid of all those shells from last summer?s
beach vacation.

Book
I
LOVE to read! Each week you'll find
a new Christian book here! |

Review:
Across
The China Sky
by C. Hope Flinchbaugh
Mei
Lin has finally been released from prison,
but life isn’t the same after all
she’s been through. When she is invited
to help in an orphanage for the summer,
she can’t pass up the chance that
God has given her even if it means returning
to Shangai so soon after her captivity.
During Mei Lin’s time away, it’s
her fiancé who ends up in more danger
than he thought possible.
The sequel
to Daughter of China, this book
stands on it’s own with a gripping
tale of religious persecution in China.
Flinchbaugh is a powerful storyteller and
tackles this sensitive subject with grace
and compassion. She doesn’t stop with
persecution, though. She also handles infertility,
cults and orphans. The multiple story lines
work together to bring the reader to his
knees for any who might suffer through any
of these situations.
At times
heart-warming and at others heart-wrenching,
readers will get a first-hand look at the
lives of Christians in China. Flinchbaugh
has done her homework. The characters are
richly developed and the story deeply touching.
Readers
who have an interest in other cultures will
find Across The China Sky refreshing.
As Americans, it’s hard to keep our
freedom in perspective. Every once in a
while a powerful story like this one begs
to be read as a reminder of the liberties
we enjoy while others around the world suffer.
As I was
reading, I truly felt like I was in China,
suffering alongside Flinchbaugh’s
characters. Every once in a while I would
need to pause to wipe the tears from my
eyes. The powerful story is backed up at
the end of the novel by a real-life update
from an interview the author did while visiting
China.
