15
Minutes For Mom
Five
Reasons Podcasting Might Be Right
For Your Home-based Business: (part 2)
#2 - Share
your passion – Podcasting is a great
way to share what you love! If you are excited
about a topic or product, chances are that
others out there are, too. A podcast on
the topic you are passionate about is a
great way to connect with other people that
share your passion.
People can hear your excitement
over the “airwaves”. I always
enjoy listening to a program when the speaker
is obviously energized about whatever it
is he’s speaking on.
Tune
in next week!

| Wow!
It's almost July - I can't believe how fast
time flies. We're heading off on a week-long
trip to see family today, so if there is
a delay in my reply to your emails that
is why. It's a working vacation, though,
so I will have my laptop at the hotel. :)
I hope you're
all making special 4th of July plans. What
will you be doing to celebrate this year?
Drop me
a line and let me know and I'll include
your celebration ideas in our July 4th newsletter,
which will go out on Monday (7/2) because
of the holiday. :)
NOTE: I'm
pleased to announce that I am a contributing
author to the new book, Laundry Tales. If
you order the book ($12), you will receive
and Autographed Copy &
FREE Shipping!

Have
prayer requests? We'd love for you to share
them with the CWAHM
Prayer Team.
Blessings,
Jill

People like to hear how your product can
benefit them. Whether an affiliate item
or your own product first hand testimonials
are the best. A good honest recount of what
your item can do can help people see how
your product will work for them. You never
know. You may turn on a light bulb for someone
who had no idea that your product was just
what they needed. I sell a series of planners
and when I get to talking about how much
they help organize my days and keep me focused
that drives a lot of interest.

I have several friends
like myself with direct sell businesses.
I was thinking that maybe not all my friends
are in the market for books, but maybe they
want to purchase quality kitchen items or
skin care. So, all of my direct sell friends
are going to invite all of their friends
to an open house. We will then have a chance
to show our products to new potential customers.
At the open house, customers will be able
to shop, schedule a home show, ask questions,
or just take a look at what we have to offer.
Thanks for the opportunity to share my business
builder.

How I Spent My Summer |
In September what will be
on your list of accomplishments
* Vacation Trip
* Tan
* Souvenirs
* Mosquito Bites
* New List of qualified Prospects
for your business
Summer is a great time for Women Owned Businesses
to do marketing research and planning. It
is often difficult and frustrating to get
things done during the summer because the
pace is slower and people are on vacation.
So those hot months are an excellent time
to identify potential customers/clients,
learn more about them to determine if they
are a good prospect and develop a plan to
make contact.
In my book “Capitalizing On Being
Woman Owned” I provide detailed
information on identifying and qualifying
prospects and marketing your business using
the angle that you are Woman-Owned. Here
are 8 Key Pointers for doing that research
effectively.
Choose one or two of your
products or services
When doing research you always want to focus
your efforts. Limiting the number of products
or services that you will seek prospects
for is a way to focus. For example, if you
provide Interior Design Services, you could
concentrate on design associated with renovation.
Or if you provide office supplies you might
focus on unique paper products or the fact
that you deliver.
Choose a particular type
of business to research
Even though anyone may be a prospect for
your products/services, you cannot research
or contact everyone at once. Narrowing your
research to one or two business types will
allow you to be thorough and effective in
your research. This will also keep you from
being overwhelmed, which could cause you
to give up on this valuable process before
you reap any benefits. Some examples of
business types include the following:
* Local Government
* State Government Agencies
* Manufacturing
* Retail
* Colleges and Universities
* K-12 Schools
* Construction
You may even want to narrow a business type
even further, depending on your specific
products/services. For instance you might
narrow Manufacturing down to automotive
manufacturing or Construction down to medical
facility construction.
Choose a geographic area
Limit your research to an area that you
can feasibly research, contact and service.
This might be your home county, a neighboring
state or a region such as the mid-west.
In my book and workshops
I offer detailed “how-to” information
on the following points. But here are a
few facts that will help you.
Look for prospects that
have set goals for the use of Woman/Minority
Owned Businesses
If a business, government agency or education
institution has set goals then they are
serious. Those goals will likely be published
on their website.
Look for prospects that
need Woman and Minority Owned Subcontractors
Because many government agencies require
their Prime Contractors to use Woman and
Minority Subcontractors these people actually
need you. One good place to find solicitations
for Subcontractors is SUB-Net on the SBA
(Small Business Administration) website
www.sba.gov.
Use your prospects’
websites to learn specifics about them
Learn what they do and how they do it –
this will allow you to show how your product/service
benefits them, which helps turn them from
a prospect to a customer.
Be sure that you can
actually serve the needs of your prospect
before you call on them Otherwise you
waste their time and yours.
Document your research
Don’t trust your memory. You need
to make notes, keep lists of websites, make
record of contacts and note follow up plans.

Celebrate the country's
birthday with the fanfare it's due -- waving
a handmade fan that looks like the American
flag.

MATERIALS:
17- by 5 1/2-inch piece of white paper
Ruler
Pencil
Red and blue markers
Pushpin
Plastic drinking straws
Paper fastener
Tape
Time needed:
Under 1 Hour
1. In the upper left-hand
corner of the paper, measure and mark a
rectangle that's 8 1/2 inches wide and 3
inches high. Draw rows of stars within the
rectangle and then color around them with
blue marker.
2. Divide the rest of the
paper into stripes and color every other
one red. Now fold the paper accordion style.
3. Create a frame for the
fan by using the pushpin to poke a hole
through each straw, 1 inch from the bottom.
Then, join the three straws with the paper
fastener.
4. Spread apart the top
of the straw frame, fit the flag onto the
frame, and tape it in place.

Ransomed
Dreams
by Amy Wallace
Gracie Lang

van with her family. In an effort to move
forward, Gracie begins a search for her
family’s killer. Will she be able
to bring justice to the tragedy or will
her search bring only more pain?
Steven Kessler, FBI agent
and the father of one of Gracie’s
students befriends Gracie and wants to help
her in her quest. Steven, however, has is
own problems in the form of an ex-wife and
a job that requires full devotion. Can Steven
help Gracie or will his current investigation
get in the way of any possible connection?
The kidnapping of the daughter
of a British Ambassador affects both Steven
and Gracie’s lives in way they never
