Thank
you all for your prayers and emails!
As many of
you read on my
blog, my hubby had to spend Friday night
in the hospital. They determined that he
has Atrial Fibrillation, which means that
his heart got off-rhythm and was beating
too fast (his pulse was over 160 beats per
minute and they like to see it under 100
- yikes!). They gave
him a big dose of medicine, some shots,
and the grand (make that not-so-grand) hospital
treatment.
The cardiologist says this
could happen again at anytime, but isn't
life-threatening. They've given him some
medication that will hopefully keep it from
happening, but there will always be the
possibility. Thankfully, he responded well
to the medicine and they didn't have to
go any farther or shock his heart. Praise
God!
So, we're exhausted, but
SO SO thankful that God allowed the answer
to be fairly "simple" and straight-forward.
They are still working
on figuring out what caused this in the
first place. It's pretty unusual at 27,
but not unheard of. We follow up with the
cardiologist in 3 weeks, so hopefully we'll
know more then.
Thank you all for
your prayers and emails. How wonderful to
feel God's love through all of you!
In His Love,
Jill

Thanks for your great newsletter. I have
a business booster tip that seems very simple,
but I'm amazed that most online business
owners don't do it. It's based on the fact
that YOU ARE YOUR BEST MARKETER. This means
you should have business cards, flyers,
etc. printed up with information about your
business, so when you go out you can give
them to people you talk with during the
day. Most people you run across during a
typical day won't remember you site without
having something to remind them of it. Remember,
just because you're online, doesn't mean
you don't have to invest in face-to-face
marketing!
You should also always include
a business card or some printed material
with the product when you ship it so
the customer has something to refer back
to, or give a friend.

I love all of the great information I find
in the Newsletters!
The biggest thing that is
a business builder for me is to "Under
Promise and Over Deliver" to my customers.
I am the owner of the Central Virginia Home
Resource Directory and I sell advertising
to local businesses that cater to the home
owner. So, when I sign on a new advertiser,
I tell them that I will have an ad for them
to review in 4 days, then have it ready
for them in 2 days. This works well for
my other business too, as I also am a rep
for Melaleuca. I tell my customers that
I will call them by the 10th of the month
to help them place their orders and then
I call them by the 5th.

Lost
Duck
August CWAHM Devotional
by Jill Hart |

I was driving
through my neighborhood recently when I
noticed a sign taped to the light poles
announcing, "LOST DUCK."
You may be appalled, but it's true. One
of our neighbors has a pet duck that I often
see waddling around in their backyard. As
we live in Nebraska, albeit in a city, I
guess this is acceptable to some degree
- there is literally a corn field just down
the street. So, why not a duck, right? It
adds a little character to an otherwise
boring street.
I'd never really
paid attention to my neighbor's duck other
than to giggle about the fact that they
also have two duck "ornaments"
in their back yard...near the pool. Maybe
they thought the duck was lonely? :) But,
it struck me when I saw the signs posted
on every corner that they must truly care
for their duck to go to so much trouble.
They were even offering a reward for the
safe return of their beloved duck.
The lost duck
reminded me of the parable Jesus tells in
Luke 15. He talks about a woman who has
ten coins, but loses one. She searches high
and low for the coin and continues her search
until the coin is found. Why does she work
so hard for one coin when she has nine others?
Why not move on and do something better
with her time? She searches until finding
the lost coin because in her eyes the coin
is valuable. It might not be of much significance
to a rich man, but to this woman the coin
has great worth.
Just as the
coin is valuable to the woman and the duck
is worth searching for in the eyes of it's
owner, so are we valuable in God's eyes.
He tells us in Matthew 10 that He knows
the number of hairs on our head. We're told
that God waits at the door of our heart,
knocking. (Revelation 3:20) He searches
us out and asks to be a part of our life.
Have you allowed
God to find you? Or are you, like the coin
and the duck, lost? Know that He see your
value and He is waiting for you to receive
Him into your heart.
"Or
suppose a woman has ten silver coins and
loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep
the house and search carefully until she
finds it? And when she finds it, she calls
her friends and neighbors together and says,
'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.'
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing
in the presence of the angels of God over
one sinner who repents."
Luke 15: 8-10

Display your family's magnetic
personalities on your own fridge, or make
a giftset for friends and relatives.

MATERIALS:
Unlined, colored index cards
Colored markers
Glue
Magnetic tape (sold at most office supply
stores)
Family photographs
Time needed:
Under 1 Hour
1. Come up with a basic
shape or design that can serve as a backdrop
for each photo. If Uncle Thomas is an architect,
for example, you might decide on a house.
For a veterinarian, you could choose a pet;
for a teacher, an apple; and so on.
2. Cut out the shapes from
the colored index cards and use the markers
to embellish them.
3. Next, trim the photos
and glue them onto the cutouts. Add captions,
if you'd like.
4. Finally, glue pieces
of magnetic tape to the backs, and the photos
are ready to place on the door.

Book
I
LOVE to read! Each week you'll find
a new Christian book here! |

The
Restorer's Son
by Sharon
Hinck
If you’ve
read Sharon Hinck’s novel, The Restorer,
you’ll know what a powerful, out-of-the-box
writer she is. I’m always on the look
out for unique stories and Hinck never lets
me down.
Her newest book, the second
in the Sword of Lyric series, continues
the story of soccer-mom Susan. In The Restorer,
Susan finds herself in an alternate universe.
In the Restorer’s Son, as you might
gather from the title, her son, Jake finds
himself in the alternate universe his mother
has just found her way home from.
The story, however, centers
on the newly appointed restorer, Kieran.
Kieran is an outcast who is despised by
many on the council. When Kieran is banished
by the council, the hope of the nation hangs
in perilous balance. Can Kieran find a way
to survive and return to his homeland or
has he blown his chance as restorer? And
can Susan find her son now that she doesn’t
have the powers of a restorer?
Hinck, named the 2007 Writer
of the Year at the Mt. Hermon Writer’s
Conference, has in some ways created a new
genre. Her mom-lit fantasy series, The Sword
of Lyric, is refreshing and unique. I generally
like the first book in a series more than
the second, but Hinck, as always, surpassed
my expectations. I read the book in a matter
of hours and I became so engrossed with
the characters that I couldn’t put
it down until I knew how it ended. I love
the universe she’s created and can’t
wait to visit again when the third book
in the series becomes available.
