15
Minutes For Mom
Here are some
more time saving tips:
Double up
on appointments whenever you can. Try to
make dentist appointments, haircuts, etc for
more than one child at a time. It may feel
like a hassle at the time but it will save
you time in the long run.
Shop at
off-peak hours, without kids if possible.
Shopping without kids can be not only a
break for you but a money saving tip!
Without the kids you will save buy not
buying those impulse items. Try shopping
during the weeknights after 8pm when the
store will be less empty and shelves
stocked.
Visit the Articles
section on CWAHM.com for great time-savings
tips and back-to-school ideas!

Here is something simple that we can all
do to promote our businesses. Every bill
that I send out, gas, electric, cable, visa,
etc, I add one of my business cards in the
envelope. Who knows where it will land. But
you can be assured that someone will notice
it!

Lifestyle Your Business!
My daughter and I took her husband to the
airport for an early flight. It was 5 am and
we decided to have breakfast while we were
out. I took my basket with 4 candles into
the restaurant with me. I simply sat the
basket on the table and took the lids off
the jars. To make a long story short: I sold
3 candles and took orders for 3 more. These
were all restaurant employees. The best time
for this is in the off hours. When it's busy
they don't have time to look. Moral of the
story; Always have product, catalogs and
samples with you whenever you leave the
house.

Increase Your Financial IQ
by Terri Pilcher |
“There was a
janitorial custodial individual in the
Detroit county schools about 10 or 15 years
ago, and he made news upon his death because
he gave a million dollars to the United
Negro College Fund tells. He never made more
than 30,000 dollars a year. His attitude
toward money was different than other people
who have that same amount of income and
spend their entire life saying, ‘I never
have enough money. I never make enough
money.’ It’s not how much you make, it’s how
you leverage what you have,” explains
Catherine Eagan, a multimillionaire
entrepreneur, former Vice President and
Private Banking Officer, ordained minister,
and financial coach.
More of us
could do this if we had a little financial
intelligence. If our parents didn’t teach us
how money works (and chances are that they
don’t know either), we probably will never
learn how to manage our money. We’ll be
strapped for cash our entire lives.
“The school
systems do us a disservice,” says Catherine,
“You can matriculate through 12 grades and
never learn the practical task of managing
money, and yet it’s something you do your
entire life.”
After twenty
years enjoying her work in the commercial
lending department of a bank, Catherine
realized that God wanted her to combine her
love of finance with her love of teaching.
“I believe I am called to help raise up the
financial intelligence quotient so that
people can really manage resources
appropriately and as a result achieve
success. It’s not how much you make, it’s
how effectively you manage,” she says.
Many women
rely on men to take care of the finances for
them, but because 50% of women get divorced
and almost all of the rest outlive their
husbands, every woman must deal with money
at some point in her life. Catherine says,
“No woman should look to a man to solve her
financial intelligent quotient.”
It’s a
shame when we let men take care of our
money, because research shows that women
make more money at investing than men do.
“When women actually begin to take on the
mantle to invest, research shows that women
are more profitable in investing than men,
because they are less emotionally driven
than men,” Catherine explains, “Men tend to
take a higher level of risk and get in and
out of different things, where women are
more methodical.”
Through her free Wealthy
Women seminars, Catherine teaches women
about all aspects the financial world. She
covers real estate investing, paying off
debt, stocks, bonds, index funds, and more.
She says, “I teach very practical
information you can use almost immediately.
How to buy a car, how to buy a home, how to
look at rates, how to negotiate a deal. All
of the basic, practical personal finance
information that an individual should know,
period.”
In addition, she covers information
essential to today’s entrepreneurs. In the
future, Catherine plans to talk about,
“global economics and what that means for
the United States of America. I think we are
now truly in a global economy. People need
to have a good working knowledge of what
that means and be globally equipped
financially. Otherwise, they may end up
running into financial problems because they
aren’t prepared for what it means to be a
21st century mom, employee or entrepreneur.”

Don’t forget to increase your financial
intelligence quotient in other ways. Read
books (I recommend starting with Dave Ramsey
and Dr. C. Thomas Anderson, two Christian
millionaires), open a small savings account
that you’ll use for investing, and go to
local SBA (Small Business Association)
classes. We’ll keep struggling with our
poverty mindset unless we learn a new way of
thinking.

Writing with flair is easy
when using pencils topped with one-of-a-kind
decorations.

MATERIALS:
Pencils
Embroidery floss
Tape
Beads, charms or bells
Felt
Colored paper
Scissors
Time needed:
1 Hour
1. For a dangly decoration, tape the center
of a 12-inch piece of embroidery floss to a
pencil just below the eraser. Wind the ends
of the floss around the pencil several
times, then tie them together.
2. String beads, charms or bells onto the
trailing ends. Tie overhand knots below the
last beads to keep them from slipping off.
3. To make a fringed pencil top, cut out a
6-inch-wide felt circle with a 1/4-inch slit
in the center and slip it over the eraser.
Then, make a series of 2 1/2-inch cuts
inward from the edge of the circle.
4. For a stand-up fringe, wrap and tape
colored paper around the pencil end and snip
downward through all the layers.

Book
I
LOVE to read! Each week you'll find
a new Christian book here! |

As I Have Loved You
by Nikki Arana
Jeff has
finally met a girl that he truly loves. His
mother, though, is convinced that Jessica is
nothing but bad news. However, the more she
pushes Jeff to stop seeing Jessica, the more
determined he is to do so.
Jessica has lived a hard
life, but says that she's come to believe in
God through talking with Jeff. In the
beginning of their relationship, she tells
Jeff that she believes in God to get Jeff to
trust her, to care for her. But over time,
and through Jeff's love, she begins to think
that maybe what he says about God is true.
Can she change and become the woman Jeff
believes her to be?
Nikki Arana's fourth novel
is so close to real-life, readers may forget
that their reading a fictional story.
Arana's characters have a depth that causes
the reader to truly care about what each
character is struggling with.
While reading the portions
of the book that are written through the
eyes of Jeff's mother, I agreed with her
point of view. Then the author would allow
us to see things through Jeff or Jessica's
perspective and I would come to understand
things differently. It is a truly accurate
portrait of family life and a situation that
many readers may have dealt with in some
fashion.
Well written and
thought-provoking, this book will help
readers realize that there are two sides to
every story. Award-winning author Arana has
penned a deeply moving story that is sure to
touch many lives.
