Holy

WORKING
AT HOME WITH KIDS
A couple
of weeks ago I asked for tips on working
at home with small kids around. Thank you
all for your responses! Here is another
tip that I'd like to share:
I have a preschool age daughter
who loves to help her mommy plan her spa
escapes parties with Beauti Control. Whenever
I am at my computer, which is all the time,
she pulls out her toy computer and does
her work right along side me. If I need
to put stamps on postcards, she is right
there to help. And, when I am packaging
products she helps me sort and bag them
for clients. She absolutely loves to help
deliver them and tells all the ladies how
"Spa'some" they are. My school
age son is also a great helper, always giving
me fresh ideas for my themed spas.
I chose an at home business
to be with my children more and getting
them involved with my business makes it
a special part of their lives as well. I
also love knowing that I am teaching them
that they can be successful in anything
they set their minds to if they work diligently
and unto the Lord. Thanks so much for offering
a great place for all us CWAHM's to connect.

Marketing is the name of the game in any
business that you create whether an online
business or more traditional business. The
first thing that I recommend to any new
Independent Business Owner on my team is to
create a marketing plan..
Here are some steps for doing this:
1) Start by writing out your goals - You can
begin by writing out a list of your goals.
What would you like your business to
accomplish this year. Try to keep these
goals reasonable and attainable.
2) Research your business - The second step
is to learn everything that you can about
your business. Attend training calls and
meetings, and read literature about your
business.
3) Research different marketing and media
sources - The next step is to do some
research into available marketing sources.
See what free and low cost advertising might
be available. Also look into more expensive
source that you might be able to use later.
When you contact the advertising director
for your marketing sources be sure to ask
about target market, circulation, price, and
whether you have any competition from a
similar business. When you are out and about
your shopping, pick up all the free
publications that you find at the
supermarket or CVS store. These may be
places that you can advertise.
4) Create a list of marketing ideas - Take a
quiet corner in your home and write down all
of the marketing ideas that you can think
of. Free associate and write down anything
that comes to mind. Do this over the course
of a few days and keep adding to the list as
you think of ideas. Again, do not make any
judgments at this point. Some things may be
practical to do now, while others will be
good ideas for the future.
5) Create your marketing plan - Now go back
to your list and circle 4 or 5 of your best
ideas. This will form the basis of your
marketing plan. In your marketing plan, list
your ideas plus the sources that you will be
using. For example, if one of your marketing
ideas is to use print advertising, type out
a list of all of the publications that you
will be using. Do not discard your original
list. You may want to try some of these
techniques at a later date.
6) Review your marketing plan - Your
marketing plan is a dynamic plan and not
"fixed in stone." You will want to make
changes to it as you get new ideas and your
business grows. Review your plan from time
to time and be sure to follow it. Be sure to
keep statistics for each marketing idea that
you try, so you can judge the effectiveness
of each technique.

Powerful
Questions - Powerful Answers for Work
at Home Moms
by Terri Pilcher |
Work at home moms struggle
with failure, just like Kathy Ireland, a
mom of three young children and a former
supermodel. “After trying and failing
at several businesses, my partners and I
began Kathy Ireland Worldwide in 1993 with
a pair of socks,” she says. Today,
her company grosses over $1,000,000,000
in retail sales annually.
It took a lot of failure
and rejection for Kathy to build her company
to that level. “My previous work as
a model included a lot of rejection. That
prepared me for the continuous rejection
that I still face in business today. That
early rejection gave me the opportunity
to ask powerful questions and get powerful
answers.”
The first powerful question
begins with rejection. “When someone
says no, ask why,” says Kathy. Their
explanation will show you an area to improve,
a new way to expand what you’re doing,
or assure you that you’re not failing
in this situation.
The second powerful question
begins with acceptance. “When someone
says yes, ask how,” Kathy says. When
someone wants to hire you or buy your product,
find out exactly what they want and how
they want it delivered. What size do they
want? Do they need the item the next day
or by the cheapest shipping? What is it
that you, a work at home mom, can provide
to make the customer happy? Asking this
powerful question gives you powerful answers.
“Too often we fear
rejection, so we don’t ask for the
information we need,” says Kathy.
“Often when we do ask, we don’t
get answers. We get noise! Please learn
to turn down the noise and keep asking until
someone engages, listens, and truly answers
your questions.” Don’t give
up after asking just one or two people.
There are wonderful, successful, generous
people who have the answers you’re
looking for.
It’s easiest to ask
the wrong people for advice. “Be certain
you’re asking someone who can truly
give you the response you need. Too often
we waste time, complaining or grumbling
to someone who can’t give us the real
information. We ask the person we feel comfortable
with. We’re sharing our fears instead
of learning and growing. Please don’t
let that happen to you.”
When you get those powerful
answers, they teach you what you need to
know to grow as a person and businesswoman.
“I look at failure as education, and
in that respect I am very well educated.
I’ve been fired, and those firing
helped build my strength. If you don’t
fall, you’re not trying hard enough.”
We often think we’re
trying hard enough, because our lives feel
so busy. We rush from soccer practice to
the post office to mail off our eBay sales
and collapse exhausted at the end of the
day. Kathy warns, “We don’t
get brownie points for effort. Don’t
confuse complexity with accomplishment.
Complexity is a destroyer. Simple is beautiful.
Simple doesn’t mean small. Simple
means making it as big as you want it to
be without chaos.” When we live in
chaos, we’ll get burnt out.
“When our first child,
Erik, was born, I realized how many little
things I took for granted. Suddenly a shower
was a luxury. This powerful change in my
life made me appreciate and realize how
much work moms face every day.” She
made it her company’s mission to “find
solutions for families, especially busy
moms.”
We work at home moms face
so many pressures. When we work together
and support each other and maybe even make
it our business’s mission to bless
other women, like Kathy Ireland did, all
of us will be blessed and successful.

Strung from the ceiling with nylon thread or
fishing line, these bewitching winged
creatures set a properly spooky party mood
right off the bat -- particularly once you
cut them loose and hand them out for the
guests to play with.
MATERIALS:
Sheet of paper
Black construction paper
Scissors
Pen
White or silver crayon
Glue
Large pom-pom
2 self-adhesive googly eyes
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. To make a batch, create a template by
drawing a large bat on a single sheet of
paper or just click on the following link
for a printable
bat template. To view the .pdf file,
you'll need
Acrobat Reader which is available for
free from the Adobe site.
Use it to cut as many
bats as you like out of black construction
paper (cut the finger holes too.)
2. To give the wings dimension, fold them
and outline them with white or silver
crayon. Glue on a large pom-pom body just
below the ears and above the finger holes.
3.
Once the glue is dry, stick on 2
self-adhesive googly eyes.

Book
I
LOVE to read! Each week you'll find
a new Christian book here! |

Cookbook Review: Bizymoms Cookbook
by Diana Ennen & Kelly Poelker
The only thing
I enjoy more than preparing great recipes
is discovering delicious and easy new recipe
ideas. The Bizymoms Cookbook, written
by Diana Ennen and Kelly Poelker really
fits the bill! It contains more than 250
easy to make recipes that are both time
saving and delicious.
The recipes that I have
tried from the Bizymom's Cookbook
meet all of my personal criteria for excellent
recipes:
1. They contain only a
few ingredients.
2. The ingredients are all things that I
am familiar with.
3. Most of the ingredients are things that
I keep in my pantry, refrigerator, or freezer
on a regular basis.
4. The instructions are clear and easy to
follow.
5. My husband will eat most of the recipes.
6. They taste great!
You'll be able to find great
recipe ideas than even the most finicky
eaters in your household will love, from
kids who only like hot dogs, to grownups
who think that food shouldn't be green,
to those who are eating with good health
in mind. The Bizymom's Cookbook collection
of recipes was definitely put together with
families in mind, and it has something for
everyone.
My Favorite Bizymoms
Cookbook Recipes:
Little Latin Meatballs
(this recipe is available in the free sample)
Meatballs are a perennial
favorite in my house, as is anything spicy.
This dish is a great combination of both,
because it incorporates jalapeno peppers
in a traditional breadcrumbs, milk, and
ground beef meatball mixture. They are just
perfect for a covered dish dinner, an afternoon
of tailgating , or just watching sports
in the living room.
Delicious Stuffed
Chicken (another one you can try
from the free download)
This truly is a three-ingredient
chicken recipe. All you need is chicken
breasts, seasoned cream cheese, and crescent
rolls. It is so easy to make, yet makes
a beautiful presentation for a dinner party
or special occasion. It tastes great, and
is very likely to become a favorite in my
household.
Apple Crisp
(sorry, this one isn't in the free download)
I'm a big fan of all types
of apple desserts, and I'm always on the
lookout for new apple recipes. This super
easy recipe combines fresh apples, butter,
nuts, raisins, oatmeal, cinnamon, and a
packaged cake mix for a microwave concoction
that tastes great by itself or over vanilla
ice cream. It's also teriffic topped with
whipped cream with a little bit of cinnamon
sprinkled on top.
You can download a free
sample of the Bizymom's Cookbook
at VirtualWordPublishing.com.
If you are looking for a recipe book full
of simple meal ideas for yourself, or as
a gift for someone special, Bizymom's Cookbook
might be exactly what you are looking for.
I'm planning to continue to put it to good
use in my kitchen!
