From Fellow CWAHMS |

Being a work at home mom I often find
myself with no time. This has been one of
the most difficult things for me to overcome
in starting my home business. It is so easy
to get off task and then forget what I was
doing.
Here are some
helpful tips that may help you manage your
time more efficiently.
Use a
calendar or daily planner and schedule your
day.
Determine your work hours.
Tackle the task you want to do least. Get it
over with you will be glad you did!
Get a timer and set a specific time to
complete each task. Ex. 1 hour for email, 1
hour for phone calls etc.
Mark off each task as you complete them!
Celebrate after completing the task! Do the
happy dance!
Have a plan,
take daily action and you will see results

How to Promote
your Business by Publishing A Book!
by Tamika Johnson |
There isn’t a more effective way for you to promote your
business than to write a book! Writing a book not only allows you to provide
information but it allows you to establish your company’s credibility, position
yourself as an expert in your field, leave a lasting impression on clients you
meet directly as well as to those they pass your book onto, as well as create a
profit while you sleep!
So how do you do this? Well, it is easier than what you may think. Here are
seven easy to implements steps:
1. Write the book! Create an outline of the information you want to
provide in your book and write it! A full-length paperback book should be at
least 50 pages.
2. Publish the book. The great thing about book publishing today is that
you don’t have to mortgage your home to be a published author nor do you have to
experience a slew of rejection letters from traditional publisher. You can
self-publish your book and keep 100% of the products.
3. Promote the book! Once the book is finished send out a press release
to your local and regional newspapers about its release. Also don’t neglect
online newswires to announce your book to the world.
4. Give the book away for free to clients or potential clients. As a
special “thank you” for your clients using your business offer your book! Not
only will this help you retain the clients that you have, but they will share
your book with the people that they know. Talk about inexpensive marketing!
5. Create a Website: If you don’t already have a website for your
company, this is the time to have one designed even if it is just a contact
page. The fact is that more and more people have access to the internet and they
are always searching for information. No matter what your budget may be, you can
have a website. Look into companies like
www.freewebs.com or www.bravenet.com
both are excellent for the novice and professional web designer.
6. Promote with E-Books! Turn your book into an e-book and offer it for
free or for nominal cost on your website. If you choose to offer it for free
this is a great way to build your email list. In exchange for visitors receiving
your free information ask they to provide their name and email address. This
will give you the opportunity to send them information about your products and
services.
7. Write articles based on the content in your book. Take an extra step
in establishing yourself as an expert by writing articles. Articles don’t have
to be long they just have to be informative. Make sure to include short byline
so that readers can find you and your company.
Writing a book can an inexpensive and practical way to promote your business.
Self-publishing just may be the avenue you want to take when having your book
published.

Book
I
LOVE to read! Each week you'll find
a new Christian book here! |
Mosaic - Pieces of My Life So Far
by Amy Grant
I’ve loved
Amy Grant since I was a little girl. Almost
every birthday and Christmas I would receive
one of her cassette tapes (remember
those?!). I think I knew the words to every
song. So, when I saw her new book, Mosaic, I
knew I wanted to read it. I’m glad I did..
The book is a combination of song lyrics and
Grant’s thoughts from the time periods when
each song was written. Some of the lyrics
are from old songs, which brought back a lot
of great memories for me about dancing
around my room to her music as a young
teenager. It was interesting to read about
what was happening in Grant’s life and I
remembered back to what was going on in my
own young life at the time. The book also
includes lyrics to new songs and gives us a
glimpse at where Grant is in life now.
Mosaic is written journal-style, with
Grant opening up and sharing her experiences
and feelings with the reader. I was
particularly touched by a story she shares
about stopping by an elderly lady’s house on
her birthday with her husband, Vince Gill.
It’s amazing to think that Grant and Gill
would take the time from their busy
schedules to do something like this, and yet
Grant shares how much she learned from
spending time with the woman. It reminded me
that God uses every situation in our life in
some way – not a moment is wasted..
Grant also shares how she’s a “normal”
person, just like the rest of us. “Like
everybody else, I wish I were in better
shape or had planned an upcoming event
little more thoroughly. I wish I were
neater. I wish I weighed what I weighed when
I was in the thirties. But all those things
are for another day. This day—at a hundred
and forty-five pounds, at forty-six years
old, with a few gray hairs and not quite
enough sleep—this is the day the Lord has
made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” p.
144.
Readers who
have been following Grant’s career for
decades will learn from this intimate look
into her life; those who may not have been
longtime fans will certainly find a woman
who they can respect and admire. Her honesty
and openness are refreshing and make the
book well worth the time.
A little
about the author: Amy Grant is the best-selling
Christian music artist of all time and the
first to garner the number one spot on Billboard’s
chart. Since beginning her career at age
17, she has earned six Grammy Awards and
twenty-five Dove Awards, and last year she
received her own star on the Hollywood Walk
of Fame. Grant’s numerous television
appearances include Oprah; Good Morning
America; and Late Night with David Letterman.
In 2007 she’ll tour nationwide, performing
with local symphonies in Atlanta, Minneapolis,
Kansas City, and elsewhere.
