15
Minutes For Mom
For busy
moms, stress management is a necessity. Here
are some tips to assist you in living a more
stress-free life and they all can be done in
15 minutes or less.
1. Imagine
the place you would most want to be if you
could. See the sights. Smell the air. Feel
the breeze. Let the scene take you away
along with the stress. It’s simple but
effective. You can do it anywhere and at
anytime.
2. Have a drink of tea. Tea
seems to have a calming effect on the mind.
Taking a few minutes to relax over a good
cup of tea can lower your heart rate and
your anxiety level.
Visit the Articles
section on CWAHM.com for great time-savings
tips and back-to-school ideas!

Be excited about the product or services
you are marketing and don't
be afraid to share that excitement with
others. When you believe in
what you're selling, it shines through! For
example, just today I had
gone to the bank to make a deposit. The
cashier commented on how good
my checks smelled! That was the perfect
opportunity for me to share
one of my business cards with a scent sample
attached. As I drove
away from the drive thru, I could see her
enjoying the scent I had
just given her! I had seized the opportunity
to share my excitement
about my product!

Healthy
Lifestlye Tips From Supermodel Kim Alexis
by Terri Pilcher |
 |
What would you
give to be gorgeous, rich, healthy,
and happy? We can’t all be supermodels
like Kim Alexis. We won’t all be millionaires,
but we can all feel as fulfilled as
Kim Alexis when we take care of ourselves.
“In the morning, I’ll wake up and say,
Yup, I feel good. Last night I had steamed
vegetables. If you’ve been eating and
exercising well, you’re going to feel
good when you wake up. You’ll be in
a better mood to be able to give to
everybody else,” says Kim Alexis. Kim
is happily married to former New York
Ranger Ron Duguay and they have 5 children
ages (23, 21, 20, 18 and 13) with the
youngest still at home. She understands
the pressures of working moms and has
been a fitness advocate since her teens.
|
“I think
God designed our bodies to be efficient
machines. When we put bad junk in, the motor
doesn’t run the well or if we over-run the
motor, we’re going to burn out. It’s important
to put good fuel in and run the motor efficiently.
If you don’t run the motor, it’s going to
seize up on you. We’re not meant to sit
an awful lot. I think we’re meant to do
things.”
Doing things means more than just exercising.
You can find your happiness in accomplishing
things, even if it’s finishing a good book
or cleaning out the garage. We’re people
with a purpose. We’re not meant to sit and
stare at the clouds and contemplate all
the time,” says Kim.
What’s the biggest excuse women give Kim
for not exercising? “They say they don’t
have the time. I think they’re right, but
sometimes you have to trade or plan. You
have to give something up in order to work
out. I think sometimes we piddle around
the kitchen to see clean and sparkly countertops,
but we haven’t worked out. Yeah, you don’t
have enough time, but sometimes you’re doing
things that are mindless or not necessary.”
If you have a husband, ask him to help you
out. Our husbands want us to feel good (and
they don’t mind having a slim and trim wife
either). Kim says, “I think women don’t
realize the husband wants the wife to be
happy. My husband says, ‘All you have to
do is tell me. If you tell me, I have no
problem taking over something so you can
go do things that makes you happy.’” If
you’re worried about your counters, your
husband would probably say, “I’ll clean
the countertops. Go out 20 minutes for a
run or go to the health club or go do something
for yourself.”
When it comes to exercise, “you’re either
an indoor person or an outdoor person,”
says Kim. She’s an outdoor person. “I love
going out for a run while some women like
to go to a health club. If you have preschool
kids, you have to find one that’s has a
good nursery. If your kids fuss, you have
to walk away and remind yourself that you
need this time for yourself.”
When we don’t take the time to care for
the body God gave us, we wear it out too
soon and keep ourselves from doing all we’re
called to do. Kim explains, “I think that
if you don’t take care of yourself you seem
to be giving so much of yourself and pouring
out all the time and you become empty. It’s
almost strange, but after you renew and
recharge yourself as a person you can go
out and give back to everyone else.”

Most kids are crazy about balloons, and
they'll get a huge charge out of dressing
these.
MATERIALS:
2 round red balloons
1 oblong yellow balloon
Scissors and cardboard
Masking tape
Acrylic paint and brushes
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. Blow up a red balloon and knot off
the end to form the turkey's body.
2.
To make the head, blow up the yellow balloon
about halfway so that there's an uninflated
"nose" at one end, then knot off the
balloon. Tie an uninflated red balloon to
the nose to make the turkey's wattle.
3. Attach the knotted-off
ends of the body and the head together by
wrapping a rubber band around them.
4. Cut the feet out of one piece of
cardboard and attach them to the bottom of
the turkey with masking tape. Now your child
can dress up her bird, painting on a face
and feathers.
5. After they make a few turkey balloons,
kids can hold a race to see who can bop
theirs across the room first. The winner
gets the real turkey's wishbone.

Book
I
LOVE to read! Each week you'll find
a new Christian book here! |

Hollywood
Nobody
by Lisa Samson
Lisa Samson
has created a very unique and charming
character in Scotty. Living the life she
has, Scotty is very mature for a
fifteen-year-old and I loved the fact that
Lisa made Scotty’s character to be one that
wasn’t your normal, typical every day
teenager. Instead of her being into designer
clothes, name brand things, etc Scotty is
into vintage style clothing, cat shaped
glasses and enjoys scouring retail shops for
her clothes.
Scotty has amazing freedom living on the
road with her mom and being able to go
anywhere but with her carefree life comes
questions. She soon finds herself
questioning who she is, where she’s from,
who her dad is and why she and her mom are
always running and who the man is they have
been running from.
Scotty begins a blog called Hollywood Nobody
where she shares her views, thoughts and
opinions about Hollywood and the
actors/actresses. Aside from writing on her
blog she also has Elaine, her diary that she
shares her most intimate thoughts with.
At first glance I didn’t think the book was
going to hold my interest, or interest me at
all for that matter, because it was written
from the perspective of a teenager. Boy was
I ever wrong! Lisa Samson had me hooked from
the very first page. I wasn’t able to put
Hollywood Nobody down until I finished every
last word. Talk about twists and turns that
I didn’t even imagine. And now I can’t wait
to get my hands on the second book in this
series!
