| Friends,
Family...and the Flu?!
Well, Turkey
Day has come and gone, but the flu is still
here with us. I started feeling sick last
Wednesday night and it doesn't want to let
go. Thankfully, my wonderful family came
to the resue, cooked the Thanksgiving meal
and entertained themselves while I stayed
in my room and tried to keep my misery to
myself. Thanks, fam!
How was your
Thanksgiving? I hope you took time to look
around you and appreciate the gifts God
has placed in your life!

Are you ready for Thanksgiving?
I can't believe it's here already! The stores
are already decked out in their Christmas
finery, but let's be sure to really use
this time to give God thanks for all that
He's done for us and given us.

Business

From Fellow CWAHMS |

Many organizations in your area have
weekly or monthly meetings and they need
fresh content. Do you have some ideas
related to your business that you could turn
into a short presentation?
My business
is about helping small business owners,
sales professionals, and direct sales
distributors to keep in touch with their
customers and prospects with a greeting card
system. So my talk is about relationship
marketing, how to ask for referrals, and
although it's somewhat generic I also get a
chance (with permission) to talk about how
our products help them do that. It's led to
a fantastic month of sales and new
distributors!
Some places for you to check, depending what
your product is about, are local moms clubs
such as MOPS, women's associations, local
Chambers of Commerce if it's business
related, or even real estate or mortgage
offices if that fits what you do. Be
creative, look in the paper to see who has
local meetings. Getting in front of 15-30
people at one time is a terrific way to
leverage your time. And yes, I was a little
nervous, but my 13-year-old helped me do a
little PowerPoint presentation and that
keeps me on track and gives them something
to look at. Of course, take your hand-outs
too and samples of your products.

Dealing with Worry and Stress
by
Filoiann
M. Wiedenhoff |
Have you been worried or
stressed over something that is starting
to affect you in more ways than one? There
are many reasons we can easily be stressed
or worried such as our finances, our relationships,
our work; you name it and the worse part
is it never seems to go away.
You are not alone; life in itself has enough
worries of its own, even in Matthew chapter
6 it says not to worry about tomorrow for
tomorrow has enough worries for itself.
I want to encourage you that there is hope
for your situation and that your worries
can be turned into peace if you will heed
God's word about this very normal and common
dilemma. Let's look at what God's word says
about this:
1. Do not worry:
Telling someone not to worry is easier said
than done. Take comfort in that Jesus
understands what you are going through and
shares in Matthew that we should not worry
because our Heavenly Father is faithful to
provide for His children. (Read Matthew
6:25-30)
2. Pray your Petitions to God:
Taking our worries and concerns to God can
be the best thing you could ever do. The
bible says to come to Him and make your
requests known to God with assurance that He
hears the cries of His children. (Read
Philippians 4: 6-7)
3. Come to Jesus: When we are at
our worst God is at His best, come to Christ
and allow Him to take your burdens and
lighten your load. You can be honest with
God in prayer, vent to Him, cry to Him and
then ask God to take your burdens and
believe that He is faithful and He will do
it. (Read Matthew Read 11:28-30)
4. Cast Your Cares Upon Him: Cast
means to cast off or take off and in this
passage it means to cast off your cares to
Him, give them over to God and allow him to
take them from you, because He cares for
you. (Read 1 Peter 5:7)
5. Stay Focused on Him: As you are
giving your burdens over to God you can now
re-focus your mind and heart back onto Him
and off of your troubles, trusting that God
is going to take care of you. When you do
you will receive His peace in return. (Read
Isaiah 26; 3)
6. Trust in Him: Remember that the
bible says that Jesus is our peace, and we
can put our trust in Him to not only take
our burdens but to carry them. Once you give
them over to God be sure that you don't take
them back. Put it in His capable hands and
leave it there!
(Isaiah 26:4)
Trust in Him that He is
faithful and that He will do it. Release it
to God and then praise Him and thank Him for
being so good to you. God is sovereign; He
is still on the throne and in total control.
Allow Him to be on the throne of your heart
and He will give you much peace in return
and so much more.

For that extra personalizing touch, use
these homemade holiday cards to share a
favorite photo.
MATERIALS:
Pencil and ruler
Scissors
Card stock
Jar lid, 3 inches or so in diameter
Decorative string or thin elastic cording
Glue stick or glue dots
Shiny paper
Craft scissors (optional)
Glitter glue or stickers
Photo
Time needed: About 1 to 2
Hours
1. For each card, measure and cut a 9-
by 4-inch piece of card stock and fold it in
half. Starting at the fold, draw a simple
ornament shape, tracing around the jar lid
to create the round portion. Cut out the
ornament, going through both layers but
leaving the fold intact.
2.
Open up the cutout and lay a 9-inch length
of string or cording across the crease, as
shown.
3. Apply glue to the
paper just below it, refold the paper, and
tie the string ends together to form a
hanging loop.
4. Cut a square from the shiny paper to fold
over the top of the ornament, using craft
scissors for decorative edges, if you like.
Stick it in place with glue dots. Decorate
the outside with glitter glue or stickers,
then glue a photo, trimmed to fit, inside
the card.

Book
I
LOVE to read! Each week you'll find
a new Christian book here! |
When the Morning Comes
by Cindy Woodsmall
Her relationship
with former fiancé Paul Waddell in tatters,
Hannah Lapp has fled her home in hopes of
finding refuge with another Amish outcast,
her shunned Aunt Zabeth in Ohio. Hampered
by limited education and hiding her true
identity, Hannah struggles to understand
the confusing world of the Englischers and
embrace unfamiliar freedoms, but a deepening
friendship with the handsome Martin Palmer
renews her courage to face the future..
Meanwhile, Hannah’s absence and the
distressing events that led to her disappearance
create turmoil among her loved ones in Owl’s
Perch, Pennsylvania. Her father stubbornly
refuses to search for her or to acknowledge
increasing signs of instability in daughter
Sarah, who suffers secret guilt over her
sister’s ruined reputation. Fiancé
Paul Waddell is wracked with regret over
his betrayal of Hannah’s trust and
is concerned with her whereabouts. He befriends
Hannah’s remaining allies—brother
Luke, best friend Mary, and loyal Matthew
Esh—trying to convince them to help
search for his love.
Rich with authentic details of Amish community
and powerful in its theme of hope beyond
measure, When the Morning Comes succeeds
as a compelling follow-up to Cindy Woodsmall’s
best-selling debut novel, When the Heart
the Cries.
