Has anyone else been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea? I just completed 2 sleep studies and have been told that I have it. I am scheduled to receive my equipment (CPAP) this week. I just can't imagine getting used to this. I've been told that it will not only decrease the oxygen obstructions but may help me to get more deep restorative sleep (I only averaged at 15 minutes before). I've had sleep disturbances for years due to fibromyalgia pain. I don't personally know anyone else going through this, so if you are I would love to hear your experiences.
Sweet dreams,
Linda

Hi Linda,
I just completed a sleep and nap study last week. I get my results next Monday. I was told they think I have 1 of 3 things: mild sleep apnea, insomnia, or a form of narcolepsy. I've been exhausted for months now, waking up 3-5x each night, and feeling very sluggish during the day.

I don't know what I have just yet, but can empathize with what you are going through. Glad they found out what it was. I'll let you know when I have my diagnosis...if they have one.

My hubby was diagnosed with sleep apnea at the beginning of this year....he's having a hard time getting used to the cpap so he doesn't use it every night. Me....I like it when he uses it cause I don't have to shake him when he stops breathing and the humming of the machine is very soothing to me so I go right to sleep.

Amy, I hope they are able to diagnose you and offer a solution soon.
Brenda, it is reassuring to hear that you aren't disturbed by the noise of the CPAP machine. I hope mine doesn't keep my husband awake as he is also sleep-deprived (due to his work schedule).

I've only had a few nights on my new machine. The first night I couldn't even fall to sleep with it on, so I gave up.
Last evening I had it on for a few hours, which is better than none at all, I guess. It seems so un-natural to me to be attached to the CPAP, almost a little claustrophobic.

Still sleepy,
Linda

Linda....I hope you have an easier time getting used to the Cpap than my hubby, but I can certianly understand how it can be hard to get used to.
