Hi my name is Tracie, and I was wanting to chat with any of you that have teenage kids and are homeschooling through high school.

What curriculum are you using?
How are you recording your student(s) classes?

I've been a homeschooling our only daughter since she was school age. I'm a bit fearful of the high school thing though. We are just entering in to it, but I'm afraid that we aren't doing enough and just need some reassurance.

Thanks so much.

I am presently tutoring 2nd and 3rd graders...however last year I taught one on one a spec ed teen at the High school...we followed the state curriculum and school board curriculum...you may want to contact the school district office and get the curriculum they are using and then adapt to your teens learning style...I hope I helped...donna

My kids are still in 2nd and 3rd grades and I always told my daughter we would re-evaluate at 6th grade... we have been meeting more people and I guess in Illinois they can go to the community collage at 16 and actually graduate high school with a collage degree...that's quite interesting to me!

Hi, Tracie!
I homeschooled my two boys through high school and they turned out very well, thank the Lord! They both attended several classes through Dual Enrollment at our local community college. The classes were free (we paid for books) and they received credit for both college and high school. We reported our grades to our umbrella homeschool association.
I would be happy to talk with you about curriculum if you are still looking. I know it has been a while since you posted this question. Please contact me if you'd like to chat.
Many blessings,

Hi. Our oldest dd graduated from our homeschool a couple of years ago. Our son will graduate May 2010. Then our youngest should graduate also, if the Lord allows us to keep going. We started out using A Beka which drove me and them nuts. It's wonderful, don't get me wrong, but with having three kids (two of which we had to pull out of public school) and all the different subjects, tests, quizzes, etc. it was nuts. We now use SOS (Switched on Schoolhouse) from Alpha Omega and with only a few exceptions we really like it. It gets a little picky about how certain answers are formed, since it is computer-based. But we like it because it's all on the computer, all laid out for them to do daily, I don't have to grade papers, etc. except for checking certain answers like essay answers and such, and their quizzes come up for them, tests are right there, and they can see daily what they need to do. I'd be happy to talk with anyone who has more questions.

My older two graduated from our homeschool, one in 2005 and one this year. We, too, started with a complete curriculum that just about drove us nuts. We ended up doing an eclectic mix of textbook courses, online courses, project based credits, dual enrollment at the local community college and a lot of independent learning.

I enjoyed having my teens continue in our home school. It seems like they really know me as a person and I really know them. And they both know themselves so much better than I did at that age!
