Which Bible character(s) do you most identify with?

In my recent Bible reading I've really been seeing pieces of myself and my life--triumphs, struggles, personality, strengths, weaknesses--in the characters and stories.

Personally
I've always thought of myself like a "Paul", made a complete 180 degree shift in life since encountering God years ago and ever since have really had a mentality of his "beat my body and make it my slave so that I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize." (1 Cor 9:26-27). But I've always had to watch for a balance of not being self-critical or too hard on myself and remember His grace. And I naturally since a child have practiced becoming "all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some." (1 Cor 9:22) Also, I have a physical "thorn in the side" with some repetitive motion injuries in my hands (symptoms, yet no signs of the problem on tests), though one of my God-given abilities is writing.

Professionally
And as of late, I've really identified with Timothy in some of the endeavors I have been involved in. He was reminded by Paul to "don't let anyone look down on you because you are young" (1 Tim 4:12) and encouraged to keep confidence. And he too had a physical challenge that he dealt with while being used by God (1 Tim 5:23).

I guess with both Paul and Timothy in my head, there's quite a tug of war going on! But a wonderful one...where with God as the referee, either way, I win!

In Him,
Arris

I think I maybe able to identify with the proverbs 31 woman (If that's character! Probably not!), in that I am a work at home mom,and sell products out of my home as the porv. 31 woman did and I market them to my community/Marketplace.
But I also identify with mary and Martha.
I love to sit at Jesus feet and worship Him and listen to His Word,(read and Pray, study), as Mary did, yet I am always busy as Martha was, and I need to stop sometimes and relax and sit at the Lord's feet and just be still.
I have something I could be doing at ALL times, so I have to make it a habit to be still and listen and take time to read the Word everyday and seek God.

I want to be able to identify with Jesus, and be more like Him! That's all of our :) Goals, I know!

What a great question!

I'm going to have to think on that a bit more.

My initial thoughts, I'm afraid to say are not original , but I'd have to say I'm a bit like, "nicksmom". As a homemaker and wahm, I identify with the Proverbs 31 woman. But, I'm faaaaar from her perfection. :-) She does inspire me & gives me guidance through God's word on how I can be a better wife and mom.

Mary & Martha. Yes, I enjoy spending time in prayer and look forward to the day when I can see Jesus face to face. Like most of us, I'm challenged to STOP what I'm doing (busy, busy) and take the time to be with the Lord.

Blessings,
Sarah :-)

In our world today we all seem to struggle with busyness. It is funny though that typically things that are of eternal value, the treasures to store up in heaven, are usually things that require us to slow down. I pray that we all are more conscious of sitting at Jesus feet--alone, with our spouses, with our children, with our friends, with our church families, with our neighbors, and even sometimes with our enemies. And even when we must be Martha I hope that our minds are focusing as a Mary. :)

In Him and His Call,
Arris

For years I've said Hannah (due to the circumstances of our infertility), but I'm currently writing a book on Paul's life and finding so much there that challenges me or makes me laugh (he had a really amazing, but dry, sense of humor in my opinion). I think the more I get to know the Scriptures, the more various personalities "come to life" for me and I find so much to relate to from so many different ones!
